Festival Outfit Inspo

Can you tell I'm so f*cking excited for festival season! I am going to Reading again this year, yay yay! And festivals = summer, which also equals great outfit inspiration. Even if you're not attending any festivals this summer, you can still dress like you are. Here are a few simple outfit ideas - clothing from Motel Rocks and a few simple and interchangeable accessories from ASOS

At a festival you can sometimes find yourself to be sitting around a lot during the mornings and early afternoon, so these trousers will provide maximum comfiness. The bralet adds a pop of colour, and I find at festivals Vans are the best shoe to wear when you know later on you'll be running all about the place and dancing all night. The bumbag, maybe a bit controversial for some, is a staple for festivals; it can hold your essentials, you have your hands free, and you're not annoying anyone behind you in the crowd with a massive backpack.

This jumpsuit is so easy to wear, and again, on cold and rainy days you can just chuck anything over the top. The mini backpack is a great option if you plan on carrying around your essentials and some other bits too (like a blanket or a spare jumper), and as it's mini it wont be to much of an annoyance for others (I don't know if this is just me? But I don't get why people wear backpacks if they plan on being right in the crowd, am I the only one?)

Another different blog post, but I need to talk about this book!

I picked up 'Dark Places' by Gillian Flynn after having read 'Gone Girl'. I really enjoyed reading Gone Girl, although I was a little disappointed with the ending (and haven't seen the film). So I knew I had to get another book by Flynn; I love the way she writes, with the alternating character views and the massive surprises and twists in Gone Girl. And Dark Places has exactly the same feel. 

The book is basically written around the main character, Libby Day, who's mother and 2 sisters were murdered when she was younger. Her older brother, Ben, was convicted of the 3 murders; but 25 years after the 'massacre' Libby goes on a journey, I guess you would put it, to find out what actually happened that night.

Obviously, this isn't a light hearted read. But I really recommend this to anyone who wants something new to read, or loves crime/thriller type novels. I like the mix of character views; Libby in the present day, and Ben and their mum, Patty, in 1985, on the day of the murder. 

There's a lot going on in the book, so many intertwining stories that lead to the one big event. And like Gone Girl it has surprises and twists.

The inevitable has now happened though that I am a little bit lost after reading this, so can someone recommend me anything to read! I might give Sharp Objects a go next.

Unexpected favourite

I was in Asda the other day and noticed that they had added the George make up range. I was after a new nail colour for Autumn, and saw this colour called 'Seahorse'. The photo's don't really show the colour, and in the bottle it looks a lot different to what it looks like on - it's a purply colour that I think makes for a more interesting Autumn colour. 

I really didn't expect to like this nail varnish as much as I do; the colour is so gorgeous and obviously the price was so good as well! 

The only down side is that it chips quite easily; but then again I haven't been using a top coat. 

I really recommend if you want a cheap and cheerful nail varnish!

Coat feat Shoes

The weather in England has not been too good the past couple days, and it is making me long for chilly autumn days were everyone is wrapped up in cosy scarves, big coats, lots of layers and more substantial footwear. This post is inspired by my longing for this; as I have begun searching for some A/W winter pieces - mainly coats and shoes.

A lined denim jacket looks effortlessly cool on a warmer autumns day, and I love the edge creepers give any outfit.

OOTD - Casual Dinner

Went to dinner at Benson Blakes in Bury St Edmunds; it's really cool for my little town, with raw wood interior and rustic food. I had the Dragon Slayer burger with onion rings, and pineapple, passionfruit and mango fruit (because I was driving)

Camden

On Friday me and my friend had an awesome day trip to Camden, London. I've never actually been before; although I've always wanted to go and my brother lives near Camden town. We spent the day at the market, there are so many little shops that sell a huge range of things and there's such a range of styles and vibes - the atmosphere was just amazing. We went to a really cool Cuban Bar; a Shisha Bar; got loads of free samples from the food market; and just soaked up the vibes of Camden. 

I didn't get the chance to take many photos, I was too busy people watching and absorbing everything. A lot of good looking men with big beards and tattoos, and equally hot girls in perfect outfits. 

I got a few cool pieces also.

The plaid shirt and purple slip dress are both from Rokit, and the vest and Simpsons shirt are from stalls in the market (although I'm sure you can probably find them online). 

The plaid shirt is absolutely massive, so I'm hoping I can get away with it as a dress, especially as it would look cool at Reading. 

I will 100% be going back to Camden, there are loads of stalls I probably missed and food I need to try. And there are a lot of small gigs that go on at night, which I would love to check out.

Motel Rocks - Top 5

I bang on about motelrocks.com a lot and so I've decided it is time for us to revisit and see what my top 5 pieces at the moment are

Leela Oversized Batwing Shirt in Scarf Black, £35

It's still a bit chilly here in England, so long sleeves are still essential. The print adds a cool edge to a simple baggy shirt, and the batwing sleeves keep you a bit more cosy and comfortable.

Mindy Turtleneck Crop Top in Blue Venus, £22

Again, the print is amazing on this top, and crop tops are so on trend right now (as you will all probably know) I like the sleeve length on this too, as it will keep till the very end of summer.

Pacey T-Shirt Blouse in Dahlia Citrus, £30

This is kind of different for Motel Rocks, as their usual style is tight and short, so this t shirt blouse hybrid definitely caught my attention as it looks super comfy and the yellow is such an uplifting vibrant colour.

Slip Cami Crop in Tonal Floral Maroon, £22

I have a dress in this print, and I love it so much cause it's so versatile. It looks really cool and done up for night, but then it looks perfect as well during the day (+ with jeans as I use the dress as a top sometimes). I also like the idea they've come up with here, turning a regular slip into a cute little crop vest.

Mini Slip Cami Dress in Pink Gingham, £32

Slips are really big right now, and so is tartan, and combined this dress has done it perfectly. The cute pale pink wont make you look like a trend whore and will be super cute in the spring and summer with sandals or boots, or even tights when it's a bit chillier.
