Alice Takes A Trip

I remember coming across the online store Alice Takes A Trip on Instagram, and I've now got a wish list full of items from ATAT.

I love the mix of prints and quirky textures and styles. And the models all look really cool.

Few Weeks

A few snaps from France; mainly of the mountain area I was staying in. The view was just so beautiful, especially at night.

Strawberry picking with a few friends (I hope you can appreciate my lovely new kimono, from Boohoo.com) and the henna my friend did on me; I had a go myself, but they did not go as well.

These few are of the day I spent in Colchester; looked around the castle, which was actually really fun. My sister got some 'great' photo's of me in medieval clothes. We also went to the art gallery in the University. And then also did a bit of shopping; and Colchester has a couple of really awesome vintage shops, where I got this football jersey, some cool USA sport comfy jogger things and some knee length Levi's, which I've now cut to make shorter shorts.

Not My Photo's

I came back from the South of France this morning; getting up at 3:45am to drive to Girona to get a 6:25am flight was not fun. But having an excuse to do nothing but reblog piles of stuff on tumblr means I came across some really nice photos. Kind of inspo-ey I guess.

A New Chapter

Today I had my final A-Level exam (ethics, if you were wandering) and now it leaves me with a huge mix of emotions. I'm happy. I, fingers crosses, never have to revise for A-Levels again. I'm excited. It is summer. I can chill with my friends in what will hopefully be fabulous weather in England; I'm going to Reading Festival in August which is going to be crazy; I'm going to Camden in a few weeks to shop and eat food; I've got parties and nights out to look forward to, basically a lot of time to not worry about any responsibilities. BUT, that also leads me to my next emotion. Apprehension and worry over what I'm going to do next; I'm finding it hard to find a full time job, I'm not going to university until 2015, and you need money to travel. However, until I've figured all this out, I should just enjoy the current freedom I have, and the few months I have left with some of my friends before they all go off to university.

And now that exams are over I am going to dedicate a lot more time to this blog. I don't want to just write about fashion however, I want to write about things I'm passionate about, experiences I have, take loads of photos of everywhere I go. I have so many plans, I just need to get the ball rolling.

So it's officially a new chapter in my life. I'm sad to let go of the easiness and routine of school, but excited to feel a bit more adult and free and have loads of new experiences.

Hope you are all well! Let me know what your plans are this summer, what your plans are for after school if you've also finished, let me know how you are feeling in general!

Update

So, I haven't done my weekly post for a few weeks now, which kind of disappoints me as I wanted this to have a consistent feed. But at the moment I am trying to prioritise my school work and as it is now exam season I am revising as much as I physically and mentally can. I wanted to write a quick update on why I haven't blogged in a few weeks now, just for my own peace of mind really; and now was the perfect time as I am in the middle of my mental breakdown over my history exam next week (it is also a re-take, so there's even more pressure to do well). Once exams are out of the way I will have so much time to post more and write about things, as school will officially be over for me, and I am taking a gap year. On top of exams I am also having the stress of trying to find a full time job, so that I am not just bumming about on my gap year. I want to go to Australia in February for a few months, so therefore I need another job to fund this. Now is the time where everything is getting on top of me and so it's nice to have a break every now and then to do something I really enjoy rather than something that is starting to feel like a chore. However, I am powering through, the thought that I could be in Aus this time next year makes me feel so happy about the future, and obviously I've got this summer with my friends to look forward to as well as prom (I have a post planned about my outfit, cause I am so excited!) So I am trying to keep motivated and work a million times harder than I have ever in my life, because I know it will all be worth it in the end. I will check in again soon, I promise! Even if it is just another update.

Lots of love, Nikki. xxxxx

Ps. Let me know if any of you guys did a gap year at university, I'd love to know what you got up to and how you went about funding it. My main fear is not making any friends while I'm away, as I'm going alone, how did you guys cope?

Youtube

Hey guys! So, in the past couple of months or so I've been really obsessed with watching beauty and fashion vloggers on youtube. It's not that I don't like reading blogs, which all of these girls I'm about to mention have too I believe, but I think watching someone actually talking about the items is just really lovely. You know they're not being fake with what they are saying, and you get more of an insight into the product I think. Vlogs are also just really good for tutorials and outfit ideas and things like that.
These girls are my favourites at the moment; they are all really different in their styles and what they like and dislike.

I think Leanne was the first you-tuber I started watching that was more fashion focused, and the main thing that I love about her is her edgy style - it's basically what I aspire to. Her cool pink hair obviously makes her stand out, and she is really confident and sure on her fashion style. I also think she is really relatable to me personally, because on the beauty side of things she says she isn't as sure and is still learning and I think that's really great for anyone like me who is also just getting into beauty and experimenting with make-up.

Estée has the best personality ever! That's definitely the first thing you notice about her, and she just makes her videos so entertaining, she's so funny and you can really see that she is excited about the products she recommends. I also love her tutorials as they are really simple to follow. She is 99% focused on beauty and is really good for beginners and also life time lovers of make up and beauty.

Sammi is a beauty and fashion vlogger, so it's great to get a mix of both. She also has a different style to the other 3, and she definitely knows what works for her. She also does bits of life advice and things like that; she's just chatty and bubbly and I think that is her appeal to all her subscribers, she just seems to friendly and humble. I really enjoy watching her videos and I'd advise you check her out too!

Out of these 4 I think Lily Pebbles is the most simple when it comes to her style and her make up, so she is really good for everyday simple looks. Her channel is mainly beauty, with a few fashion hauls. She's really different to the other 3, as like I said she's really simple with her looks, but I really enjoy her videos as she mixes it up with high end and high street products, so there are things for everyone.

These four are my most watched on youtube, but I also watch Amelia Liana, Tanya Burr, Claire Marshall and Zoella

Hope this interested you all, as I know youtube fashion and beauty videos have become really popular recently (or maybe they always have been and I just didn't know). Let me know any you-tubers you love, I'd love to check them out, or if you do youtube videos yourself!

Motel Rocks - Top 5

I bang on about motelrocks.com a lot and so I've decided it is time for us to revisit and see what my top 5 pieces at the moment are

It's still a bit chilly here in England, so long sleeves are still essential. The print adds a cool edge to a simple baggy shirt, and the batwing sleeves keep you a bit more cosy and comfortable.

Again, the print is amazing on this top, and crop tops are so on trend right now (as you will all probably know) I like the sleeve length on this too, as it will keep till the very end of summer.

This is kind of different for Motel Rocks, as their usual style is tight and short, so this t shirt blouse hybrid definitely caught my attention as it looks super comfy and the yellow is such an uplifting vibrant colour.

I have a dress in this print, and I love it so much cause it's so versatile. It looks really cool and done up for night, but then it looks perfect as well during the day (+ with jeans as I use the dress as a top sometimes). I also like the idea they've come up with here, turning a regular slip into a cute little crop vest.

Slips are really big right now, and so is tartan, and combined this dress has done it perfectly. The cute pale pink wont make you look like a trend whore and will be super cute in the spring and summer with sandals or boots, or even tights when it's a bit chillier.

Don't forget use the code 'simpleenough' to get 20% off at motelrocks.com, so if this has given you a taste of something you like I'd definitely advise checking it out.
Lots of love, Nikki xxxxx

Ps, I shall hopefully have a new post up on Friday of my small, but exciting, shoe collection (:

Spring Wishlist

For Lent, I have given up shopping! (Although I began at the end of February, when I got paid) And it is very difficult; I watch a lot of fashion and beauty vlogs online, window shop, browse online, read a lot of magazines etc. To fulfil my desire to shop, blogging about what I want is the best alternative. So here goes:

I've got a massive obsession with Regal Rose recently, as it's been literally everywhere. Every celeb, blogger and magazine is raving about Regal Rose, so I had to get on the band wagon. Necklaces are my most worn items of jewellery, and I thought these two were so beautiful.
The top one is the Rawa. Crystal Quartz Necklace - £22
And the bottom one is the Orsa. Herkimer Diamond Necklace - £16

This Topshop Fruit Print Peplum Cami, £26, isn't my usual style but the print on this caught my eye and I think it will be great this summer for a casual look. And the peplum will cover any unwanted bloating from eating too much on holiday - it's just cute and a bit unusual.

The Motel Trudie Button Up Playsuit in Sun Moon Stars Print is such a cool piece, and the print is big hit with a lot of fashion bloggers recently. At £40, it may seem a bit expensive, but this can be worn for lots of occasions and climates so will be worth the price. I think playsuits will be a staple for me this spring/summer, and this is a bit grungy which is more edgy.

Urban Decay has been the brand on everybody's lips for a while now, and I am really lusting over the colours on the Naked 3 eye palette. I am getting into make up a lot more recently, and this item is on the top of my beauty wish list.

Another big item at the moment is the Instax Mini 8 from Fujifilm, which comes in 5 different colours. 90's has been big for a while now, and this clumpy polaroid camera definitely embraces the 90's feel. At just under £70 this isn't a bargain piece, but I think it is definitely worth the price, considering the hype and how much everyone is loving this at the moment. I need to get my hands on one, asap!

Lastly, these Out From Under Joyce Double Buckle Strappy Heels from Urban Outfitters are my favourite piece in this wishlist!I love chunky black boots and heels, and Urban Outfitters sell the best of the best for clumpy shoes. These shoes are really versatile, you can wear them with a girly dress, or jeans and a tee, or on a night out, so many outfit possibilities with these baby's!

Fingers crossed Lent goes quickly, so I can at least buy one of these items soon.
Lots of love, Nikki. xxxxx
